As Netflix works to acquire essential content by merging with Warner Bros., many conservatives are demanding that the company face up to the risks of targeting children with adult-themed content on its platform.

“I think Netflix has a problem, and that they have a creative class that just loves to push the envelope with programming, including children’s programming, and they don’t seem to be satisfied unless they’re subverting the moral order with sexual content,” Jerry Bowyer, asset manager and Netflix shareholder, told The Epoch Times.

“Companies that do that eventually lose their ’social license,'” he said. “Eventually, parents and the social order reasserts itself, and there’s blowback.”

Bowyer’s company, Bowyer Research, has filed a shareholder resolution with the Securities and Exchange Commission proposing that shareholders vote against the election of Netflix’s current board of directors for “failing to compete effectively with industry peers and tying the Netflix brand to divisive social policies rather than business fundamentals.”

Netflix’s sexualized children’s content has also drawn criticism and calls for a boycott from public figures such as Elon Musk and sparked the ire of members of Congress.

“Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids,” Musk stated on X in September. Netflix’s shares, which traded around $125 per share in September, have since fallen to $94 per share at year-end, though much of that decline is likely due to the company’s intention to take on substantial new debt to acquire Warner Bros.

The U.S. military launched a third round of retaliatory strikes in Syria on Friday, killing an Al-Qaeda-affiliated leader with ties to an ambush attack by an ISIS gunman last month that killed three Americans, U.S. officials said.

The latest strike was conducted in northwest Syria, U.S. Central Command announced in a news release on Saturday.

"The death of a terrorist operative linked to the deaths of three Americans demonstrates our resolve in pursuing terrorists who attack our forces," said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. "There is no safe place for those who conduct, plot, or inspire attacks on American citizens and our warfighters. We will find you."

The alleged Al-Qaeda-affiliated leader was identified as Bilal Hasan al-Jasim, who U.S. officials said "was directly connected" to the ISIS gunman who killed two U.S. service members and an American civilian interpreter in Palmyra, Syria, on Dec. 13.

At least 21 people were killed, and 100 more were injured after two high-speed trains collided in southern Spain on Sunday, according to officials.

A train travelling from Málaga to Madrid derailed near Adamuz, crossing over to the adjacent track where it hit another train coming from Madrid to Huelva, according to the Spanish Interior Minister.

Officials said that of the 100 people injured, at least 25 of them suffered serious injuries.

Rescue crews are on the scene, and all trains between Madrid and the Andalusia region are suspended, according to officials.

The cause of the train derailment has not yet been released.

Iryo, the company operating the train that initially derailed, released a statement, saying the company "deeply regrets what has happened and has activated all emergency protocols, working closely with the competent authorities to manage the situation."

BERLIN, Jan 18 (Reuters) - German industry reacted with anger on Sunday to U.S. President Donald Trump's planned use of tariffs to crank up the pressure on Denmark to sell Greenland, calling on Europe not to cave in to his demands.

Trump's threat to implement a wave of increasing tariffs on European allies until the U.S. is allowed to buy the strategically important island derails a period of relative calm for businesses after Brussels and Washington agreed a trade deal last summer.

Germany is vulnerable to tariffs due to its export-focused economy, which is slowly emerging from two years of decline, with global trade tensions weighing on demand for its goods like cars, machinery and chemicals.

"If the EU gives in here, it will only encourage the U.S. president to make the next ludicrous demand and threaten further tariffs," said Bertram Kawlath, president of the German engineering association VDMA.

"Highly controversial political goals are being tied to economic sanctions in an unacceptable manner," said Volker Treier, a foreign trade specialist at the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).

Both called for a unified response from the European Union, joining a similar statement from the head of Germany's VDA automotive association on Saturday.

This could include the EU's never-before-used "Anti-Coercion Instrument", which allows the bloc to retaliate against third countries that put economic pressure on EU members to change their policies. Saturday's threat could derail tentative deals Trump struck last year with the European Union and Britain, which is also a target of the planned Greenland tariffs.

The VDMA and DIHK cast doubt on the likelihood that EU lawmakers would vote on the deal with Washington this month, principally involving the removal of many EU duties on U.S. goods imported into the bloc.

‘Chega’ (‘Enough’) is Portugal’s answer to the Globalist policies that are destroying their country.

Six years after it was founded, a rightwing party is poised to rise to power in today’s presidential election in Portugal.

No less than 11 candidates are involved in the election, making it likely that the two top candidates will have to compete to compete in a runoff ballot next month in the likely event that no one gets over 50% of the vote.

Associated Press reported:

“Almost 11 million people are eligible to vote in the election, with most results expected late in the day. The winner will replace President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who has served the limit of two five-year terms.

Among the front-runners, according to recent opinion polls, are André Ventura, the leader of the populist Chega (Enough) party. Chega’s surge in public support made it the second-largest party in Portugal’s parliament last year.”
