Alternatives to Big Tech are just about to get a whole lot more support and development.

Firstly, from the recent influx of new users and now directly from EU investment!

No better time than now to make the switch.

Would anyone with the abililty and time be up for creating a space to discuss upcoming or classic european movies. I say upcoming because it would be great to support our own, and older because I have lots of great ones to share!

The European Open Digital Ecosystem Strategy will set out:

• a strategic approach to the open source sector in the EU that addresses the importance of open source as a crucial contribution to EU technological sovereignty, security and competitiveness
• a strategic and operational framework to strengthen the use, development and reuse of open digital assets within the Commission, building on the results achieved under the 2020-2023 Commission Open Source Software Strategy.

As Dries Buytaert, the founder of Drupal, wrote in his post (highly recommended read) as feedback to the European Commission's call for evidence:

Europe does not need to build the next hyperscaler. It needs to shift procurement toward Open Source builders and maintainers. If Europe gets this right, it will mean better software, stronger local vendors, and public money that actually builds public code. Not to mention the autonomy that comes with it.

not to mention the US taxation of Americans abroad. My understanding is that it's very difficult for Americans to invest in EU funds and/or use EU banks. Americans in Europe I know opt to keep their investments and large account balances in the US, with spending money in EU accounts.

I'm not an economist, but if these rules were gone, would this help the EU economy, by allowing US money to be invested into Europe more freely? For example, concerned Americans could move their accounts to EU investment funds/accounts
