The British Imperial War Museum has turned “woke,” replacing an exhibition of military medals with an LGBTQ-themed tour, Lord Michael Ashcroft, who owns the historic collection, has said.

Until recently, the London museum had exhibited the ‘Extraordinary Heroes’ gallery, which included a collection of Victoria Cross and George Cross medals, the highest British military and civilian honors.

However, earlier this year, the institution announced it would replace the gallery with a tour titled: ‘Exploring LGBTQ+ Stories in Times of Conflict’. Around a third of the exhibits are related to transgenderism, according to the Daily Mail.

“This was part of the reason the Imperial Woke Museum kicked out over 200 Victoria Crosses telling the incredible stories of the bravest of the brave,” Lord Ashcroft said in an X post on Friday. “It is beyond parody.”

According to some critics, the museum’s decision is an attempt at re-framing history towards a more woke narrative.

“With this display, they trivialize true stories of bravery and courage,” Buckingham University Professor Anthony Glees told the Daily Mail earlier this week. What is worse, they “appear to be doing so in order to re-frame the lessons of history to make a woke appeal to young Brits on behalf of a highly controversial special interest group,” he said.

Vice President JD Vance praised YouTuber Nick Shirley’s reporting on fraud in the state of Minnesota, stating that Shirley had “done far more useful journalism” than any of the 2024 winners of Pulitzer Prizes.

Vance’s post came in response to a video posted on X, in which he and his team exposed “Minnesota fraud.” Shirley explained that he and his team “uncovered over $110,000,000 in ONE day.”

“Here is the full 42 minutes of my crew and I exposing Minnesota fraud, this might be my most important work yet,” Shirley wrote. “We uncovered over $110,000,000 in ONE day. Like it and share it around like wildfire! Its time to hold these corrupt politicians and fraudsters accountable.”

NANCHANG, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's largest freshwater lake, Poyang Lake, has shrunk by 90 percent from its high-water season level and entered an extremely low-water level, local authorities said Sunday.

At the landmark Xingzi hydrological station in east China's Jiangxi Province, the water level fell below the extremely low-water mark on Sunday morning, with the gauge reading only 8 meters.

This year, Poyang Lake's water level first dipped below the 12-meter drought warning line on Aug. 8, 87 days earlier than the average time of previous years. To date, the lake has been 217 days below the drought warning line, meaning nearly two-thirds of the year in low-water conditions.

To address the situation, a nearby water supply company in Duchang County has mobilized 10 pumps operating at full capacity to draw water from the outer lake to the plant's intake, said Wang Chunhua, head of the company's production and operations department.

The company also stepped up inspections of drinking water sources and increased the frequency of water quality testing to ensure the safety of drinking water for 160,000 urban and rural residents nearby.

The lake has repeatedly set new low-water records in recent years, with a growing trend of dry seasons starting earlier, lasting longer, and reaching lower water levels.

In 2022, its water level dropped to a record low of 4.6 meters. The following year, the lake entered its dry season on July 20, the earliest date on record.

Experts warn that the prolonged low water levels will affect the wintering of hundreds of thousands of migratory birds, including Siberian cranes, oriental storks and white-naped cranes, as well as the reproduction of aquatic species such as the finless porpoise.

Right-wing podcaster Tim Pool has claimed someone “opened fire” while approaching his property in West Virginia.

In a post on X, Pool said a car approached his property on Friday night and “opened fire.” There were no injuries, Pool added. His security team is now “reviewing the incident” and will make a report to law enforcement.

In a second post, Pool said his first thought was that someone was trying to scare him. “But we have a security gate and armed guards, and it's possible this deterred something more serious,” he wrote.

Pool, who hosts The Culture War Podcast, has millions of followers across YouTube, Instagram, and X. He rose to prominence during the Occupy Wall Street movement in 2011 and during his time as a reporter with Vice.

Pool did not specify where his property is located, but his X profile lists his location as Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The Independent has contacted Pool for comment.
